EXPLORE LONDON : BRITISH MUSEUM

17:55:00

London city has so many attractions to offer, hence this 'Explore London' label. From entertainment to historical monuments to world class landmarks and high end shopping experiences. Since I live in Sheffield, and it takes around 2 hours (or more) to get to London, everytime I am in London or plan to visit London, I'll decide on some places to visit that I have not yet been to.

This time, we decided to visit the British Museum. To be frank, I am not much of a museum person because I prefer doing activities rather than walking around in an indoor space reading histories (no offence to those who love history. haha) - though some historical eras are actually interesting.

One of the reasons which triggered me to visit the British Museum is due to the fact that the interior court of the museum, the Queen Elizabeth II Great Court was design by the famous Foster and Partners architects. It was beautifully designed integrating modern glass and steel roof concept with the more ancient architecture with column designs borrowed from the Greek classical architecture. It reflects the exterior building architecture, which was designed by Sir Robert Smirke in 1823.

If you're someone who likes to learn about human history, arts and culture, then this is the place for you. Lots to learn and the place is hugeeee filled with historical facts from the Ancient Egyptian era through histories of other continents around the world.

Getting there: I went by the Underground Tube and stopped at Holborn station and walked my way to the museum. You can stop at either one of these 4 Underground Tube stations and walk to the museum; Russell Square, Holborn, Tottenham Court Road & Goodge Street. More info on how to get there here.

Opening times: Daily: 10.00am - 5.30pm, Friday: 10.00am - 8.20pm

Fee: Free.
