One of the item in my 'many-things-to-see list' check!
We were in Dubai for 2 days and decided to make a quick visit to The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, in Abu Dhabi. The journey from Dubai (Al-Ghubaiba Station), by bus, took us 2 agonizing, long hours! (the bus was moving below 60km/h and it's mental torture to sit in a vehicle that slow on a highway!). It was about 11 am when we finally reached our destination, so the sun was beaming ever so brightly as if welcoming our presence. haha.
View from outside the mosque compound.
It was such a hot day, and we were struggling to keep a smiley face against the scorching July sun.
Fizal proud in his dishdasha. :)
Beautiful craftsmanship.
...which deserves one more view from another angle, hehe.
The cooling effects of water features in Islamic designs.
Meticulous columns in the perimeter of the mosque.
And then you start to see it in front of your eyes...
It was so pure and awe-inspiring. Even that is an understatement.
And I'm just a tiny person in front of this masterpiece.
The cloudless sky made the view even more beautiful.
Upon entering the prayer hall of the mosque...

Details
The level of details put into this mosque is beyond words. Every inch and corners was decided and thought into carefully.
The first prayer hall you see when entering the mosque.
Statement chandeliers hanging from inside the dome.
... and walls.
...and graceful wallpapers.
And you'll come across drinking water from water-coolers scattered within the mosque's compound, which really serves its purpose; what we really needed and wanted during that very hot day. haha.
And they're beautifully-made too!

And that ended our visit to the prominent Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. It was such a great experience and we were in awe at the magnificent architecture and outstanding details put into this masterpiece.
We were rushing to get back to Dubai as we only had limited time in the UAE, so we literally just came to Abu Dhabi to see the mosque. Although it was a brief amount of time, it was enough to at least see the mosque and be mesmerized by it. :)
Until then!
