RANDOM FAVOURITE MOMENT: CAMPING AT BUKIT TABUR, KUALA LUMPUR

05:03:00

Bukit Tabur (Tabur Hill) is located quite near to where I live in KL (roughly 10 minutes driving) and I've climbed up and down Bukit Tabur a couple of times already. Its fun, easy and challenging at the same time and most importantly, it offers such breathtaking views of both nature and the city.

One day, few friends and I decided to camp for one night on one of the the peaks of Tabur. We packed one large tent and bought ourselves packed fried rice for dinner, some snacks and plenty of water for the night. We started our climb late in the evening and since some of us have climbed Tabur more than once before, it didn't take us long to reach the top. Because Tabur does not have an absolute highest peak (so you basically go up and down and back up again with Tabur), we looked for a good spot (although we can't really find a flat smooth space on there, it was all rocky) to set our tent. We found a place just in time before sunset and managed to set up our tent before it got dark. There was actually a few other guys who came to the spot that we were at and spent the night there too. They were just chilling, but without a tent; they were basically just chatting in front of their fire too.

It was a very relaxing weekend camping trip. We lit up some campfires, and just talked for hours while sharing our fried rice for dinner and stuffing our tummy with Golden Ring snacks under the starry night. One of my very distinct memory from this trip was when us girls (me, Ika and Sarah) had to do our 'business'. We had search for somewhere suitable(?) far from our tent and near the bushes and rock cliffs. Yes, it was pitch black and it was dangerous. We had one torch light, it was so quiet and we were deep in the forest. We kept telling each other not to look but tried to maintain conversations through out, haha (it was scary OK, so of course we'd want to keep talking to each other). We each took turns doing our (small) things and holding the torch light against darkness of the forest. It was awkward, scary and funny at the same time, so obviously, we laughed it off while walking back to our tent.

Apart from the fire that we lit, which was slowly fading out, we were accompanied by very bright quite a full moon that night. We did eventually fell asleep but very late that night and had couple of hours sleep. The girls slept in the tent while the guys lay down out in the open air, facing the stars. The rock surface was rough as corals! Neither of us really had a proper good sleep (what do you expect? it was wild camping, haha). We kept twisting and turning, luckily, Fizal brought along a yoga mat which we used in the tent, but didn't do much help either (He got mad at us girls for stealing his yoga mat and he had to sleep on the rough hard surface, haha). When morning came, we woke up pretty early (while the sun was just rising), packed up our tent and made our way downhill before people started to crowd the place early morning for sunrise views, as it usually happens especially on weekends.

All in all, it was such a memorable night, being close to nature, no signals, no phone, just living the moment chatting with my best friends. What can go wrong?

Until then, more random memories coming up soon. :)
